Music and Light Dinner: $35
Waikiki By Moonlight: Tuahine
Hawaiian Music Perpetuation Society (HMPS) brings a special installation of Waikīkī by Moonlight to Mānoa Heritage Center. Waikīkī by Moonlight: Tuahine will weave together mele, and mo'olelo honoring the storied ʻāina of the Waikīkī ahupuaʻa, with special attention to Mānoa—its places, people, histories, and the beloved Tuahine rain. Set within the beautiful grounds of Mānoa Heritage Center, this intimate evening invites guests to experience the connections between mele and place, and the stories that remain alive in the ʻāina. This special ticketed event includes a light dinner prepared by Kahumana. Presented by Hawaiian Music Perpetuation Society in partnership with Mānoa Heritage Center.
Advance registration is required; space is limited to 40 guests.
Hawaiian Music Perpetuation Society
Hawaiian Music Perpetuation Society (HMPS) is a Native Hawaiian nonprofit dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and perpetuation of mele Hawaiʻi. Through music, moʻolelo, education, and community gatherings, HMPS creates opportunities for people to deepen their connection to Hawaiʻi—its people, places, histories, and traditions.
Kahumana
Kahumana is a Waiʻanae-based nonprofit rooted in mālama ʻāina, community, and the well-being of Hawaiʻi’s people. Through its farm, social enterprises, and community programs, Kahumana brings people together around food, ʻāina, and shared kuleana.
Our Pilina
HMPS and Kahumana share a belief that caring for community and caring for ʻāina are deeply connected. Our pilina allows each organization to bring its own gifts to the gathering.
For Waikīkī by Moonlight: Tuahine, HMPS will share the mele, moʻolelo, and hula that help illuminate the stories alive in the ʻāina, while Kahumana will prepare the light dinner enjoyed by our guests.
It is a simple but meaningful expression of our relationship: mele and moʻolelo to nourish the naʻau, and meaʻai to nourish the kino. Together, we welcome our community to gather, learn, share, and deepen their connection to ʻāina and one another.
