Kokedama Workshop with Dianne Ige

Join O‘ahu-based artist Dianne Ige to learn how to make a kokedama  (literally ‘koke’ moss, ‘dama’ ball) - one for yourself and one for a friend (each person will make 2 kokedama). Kokedama make wonderful gifts!

Originating in Japan, kokedama began with bonsai plants grown in moss-covered spherical balls made of soil, then wrapped with filament or string. Today, practitioners continue this art, using a variety of suitable plants. 

*Note this workshop will NOT use bonsai plants.

Leaf Prints with Air-dry Clay Workshop with Margo Vitarelli

2-sessions: $40

Join artist Margo Vitarelli to work with air-dry clay and make an original creation with plant prints. Try a new medium!  On Thursday, August 28, form a small bowl, flat tile, or Christmas ornament and decorate with native plant leaf impressions. Leave at MHC over the weekend to dry.  Come back on Tuesday, September 2 and finish your pieces with some color, using diluted acrylic paint, marking pen, or watercolor.  All materials provided.
