Nature Journaling Dec 14 24
Nature Journaling with author and artist Kate Righter
SAT DEC 14, 9 am - 11 am
1-session $20

Want to spend your morning connecting with nature at Mānoa Heritage Center? Join author and artist Kate Righter for a fun and easy writing workshop! Reawaken your creative spirit with various writing prompts inspired by native plants and the beautiful grounds of this historic location. You will also learn to include simple drawings to enrich your text and deepen your observation skills.

What will the workshop involve?

Each class is unique, inspired by what is happening in the garden that day and the participants’ interests and abilities. The workshops begin with an introduction to the three main habits of nature journaling, followed by time spent outdoors with opportunities for guided and independent journaling. Each session concludes with a chance to share and reflect on the experience.

Please note that exploring the gardens of Mānoa Heritage Center requires walking on uneven ground, including stone pathways, stairs, and grassy hillsides. Participants are also welcome to remain on the accessible, covered walkways with access to native plants and beautiful views. Workshops are held rain or shine.

Each participant should bring their own:

-Journal, notebook, or sketchbook
-Pencil or pen
-Colored pencils (optional)
-Mat or towel to sit on (MHC also has campstools participants may use)
-Hat and sunscreen
-Water in a reusable bottle

Visit the Hawaiʻi Nature Journal Club website for more information about supplies needed for nature journaling.

Limited to 15 participants. Open to participants ages 12 and up.
