Hawaiian Solar Bot Workshop with Corinne Okada Takara
SAT SEPT 21, 10 am - 12 noon
1-day workshop: $30 per solar bot (materials included)
In this multigenerational workshop, participants will invent mini-moving robots constructed of local natural materials, solar panels, and pager motors. While we tinker and talk story, we will imagine a Hawaiian future of abundance rooted in sustainable energy and the use of local natural materials. Family members are encouraged to participate together.
Keiki age 12 and up may participate alone.
Adult participation is required for keiki under 12.
Corinne Okada Takara is a community art activist and STEAM educator who creates programs that elevate and empower community voices in conversations centered on identity, place, science, and technology. She is a Yonsei (4th generation) kama'aina settler who lives on Oahu. Her frugal science tool and biomaterial design research is conducted in her garage and Nest Makerspace, a mini hale in Mānoa Valley.
