‘Āina Kumu Wai: A Watershed Workshop

Open to educators of all grade levels/subject matter (MHC activities have been designed with elementary students in mind)

Join MHC’s Education Team for a 2-day exploratory workshop focused on the diverse and fascinating subjects related to our watershed. Connect with other passionate educators from across the island to develop a place-based understanding of what it means to be a responsible steward of our ‘āina. Cultivate a deeper understanding of our activities that connect students to this place, and develop a lesson tailored to your place!

What you'll gain from this experience: 

  • Basic knowledge of a watershed and how it works
  • Knowledge of place (mokupuni, moku, ahupua‘a, wai, ua)
  • Learn how MHC contextualizes the watershed while living amidst a residential community 
  • Create the beginnings of a curriculum plan connecting your place to the watershed
  • Receive a pair of native plants; one for yourself and one for your school 

Educators can receive a $250 stipend with full participation. 

Limited to 12 participants.
